Making Small Changes versus Motivation

It all begins with an idea.

Often people feel that you need to be motivated to be able to achieve your health and wellbeing goals. While feeling motivated is great, it comes and goes and can’t be relied upon every day.

Instead, introducing small daily changes, which become part of your routine (like brushing your teeth) are much more effective in meeting your goals. It will also mean that the changes you make will become habit over time and ensure that the goals you achieve are sustainable.

However, it’s important not to introduce too many small changes at once so you avoid being overwhelmed. For example, one week you may decide to start stretching for 5 minutes at the end of every day. Once you have nailed this consistently you can look to add another small change.

Examples of small daily changes that can transform your life are:

- Drinking 6 to 8 glasses of water

- Meditation for 5 to 10 minutes

- Making your meeting walking meetings (this is a great one to get your steps up!)

- Having a health and nutritious breakfast every morning

- Writing in your journal

- 5 minutes breathwork

- Changing 1 of your coffees for an herbal tea

- Preparing your food for the next day

- Getting your workout clothes ready for the next morning

- Taking the stairs wherever you can

There are many ore things you can do to help improve your health and wellbeing and achieve your goals.

Less is Sometimes More When it comes to Exercise

It all begins with an idea.

Have you ever spent extra time in the gym or on your run to work off that chocolate or wine from the day before?

Have you ever pushed yourself to exercise even if you’re really tired because you are too scared to take a day off?

Are you worried that if you don’t work at your highest intensity every time you exercise you won’t get the results?

That was me too! It took me years after competing in bodybuilding to change my mindset about exercise. I thought if I didn’t work out twice a day, I would gain weight. It ended up that the opposite was true. By not listening to my body, I ended up with chronic insomnia, digestive problems and gaining weight.

What can happen to your body if you over exercise is that you are always in “flight or fight” mode and your body never gets to rest. You know your own body better than anyone else so make sure you listen to it.

If you are planning to exercise but had a poor night’s sleep then it might be better to go for a gentle walk or do 10 minutes stretching o yoga to give your body a chance to recover and feel more balanced.

High intensity exercise is great, but your body will respond well to also ensuring you have some nice restorative movement as well. Try it and see what happens! I promise you; it won’t affect your fitness or strength by swapping a couple of intense sessions with slower ones.

It all begins with an idea.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
